Cross Keys United Methodist Church

Scripture:

John 6:37 (NIV)

Sunday readings, Bible.male holding Bible with nature view

All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.

Reflection

When we reflect on this, or any Bible passage, we want it to have meaning that we can understand and accept. Our faith in God helps us to do that. And our faith tells us that our beliefs will travel with us when our soul leaves this planet.

This passage from John’s gospel teaches us that it is not our place to judge who is worthy of that journey – only God will focus on all of us.

And it is for us to understand that all who come to God, no matter their circumstance, are welcome and will not ever be “driven away.”

Pray that while you live the life God has provided in this world, your faith will allow you to always accept all others; that your faith, your spirit, your personal power source will be what leaves an impression on all others to see and learn;

your example of living a life free of judgmental thoughts and actions toward others.

Reflection Written by John Dreisbach

Prayer:

Lord, help us all to understand that it is not our place to judge those that come to you. Help us have faith that you alone are our focus, and as you live in each one of us, we are called to come to each other as we come to you.

In Jesus's name, we pray, Amen.

Please take a moment to consider what God is speaking to you through the scripture passage and the devotional reflection.

Then, take some time for prayer—pray for your own soul, and lift up

our sisters and brothers, especially names in our prayer list.

You can also listen to the music provided below as a backdrop

for your time of prayer.
