Day 4

Cross Keys United Methodist Church

www.crosskeyschurch.org

Scripture:

Matthew 28:18-20

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded in you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.”

The Great Commission

In this scripture, Jesus left the disciples with a last word of instruction; that they were under his authority to go out and make more disciples for the Kingdom of God. Today, Jesus still commands us to tell others the ‘Good News’ so that they may know God’s love and turn their hearts towards Him.

Our church is blessed with a large facility to further His Great Commission. Faith Hall was a vision of the late Pastor Brian Greco who served Cross Keys U.M.C. from 1994-2015. He saw where the church needed to expand into the growing community and provide an all-purpose building to support its future ministries.

As expected, there was a lot of doubt because it would be the largest capital improvement in the church’s history.

How can this small church afford it? God worked through his people who donated money, time, materials, and a plethora of talent to the cause, as it was God’s will to continue His Great Commission here in the Cross Keys area. Over the years, this building “built on faith” has housed many outreach programs providing care and cultivating new disciples of all ages.

Today, Pastor Brian’s spiritual vision is continuing through Pastor Sean, who has been moving our church enthusiastically in the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let us join him and know that Jesus will be with us “to the very end of the age”.

Reflection Written by Rebecca Bertino

Prayer:

Dear God, please inspire us to carry out your “Great Commission” in our world today and continue to guide us as we bring others to You.

In Jesus's name, we pray, Amen.

Please take a moment to consider what God is speaking to you through the scripture passage and the devotional reflection.

Then, spend some time in prayer—pray for your own soul, and lift up our next generation ministry, especially today’s young family gathering.

May God’s peace be with them!
